  • What is the BDA?

    The BDA is a supper club whose members are pharmacists or individuals who work in some area of pharmacy practice. We also provide educational scholarships to deserving pharmacy students.

  • Why should I join the BDA?

    Members get together four times a year to network, chat about current events, enjoy a nice dinner and listen to an interesting talk about politics, sports, news or some other topic of interest. The BDA provides a great forum to see colleagues and friends while you are working or after one enters retirement.

  • Who are the officers and board of directors of the BDA?

    The officers consist of a President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer and immediate Past-President.  There is also a five member board of directors.  Current officers and board members are listed on the home page.

  • What are the annual membership dues?

    The annual membership dues are $55.

  • Who are the speakers?

    The speakers are sports personalities, individuals from TV or radio news media, politicians, authors, or other individuals with interesting topics to speak about. We also provide programming and resources that are helpful in retirement such as Medicare.

  • How often does the BDA meet?

    We typically meet four times per year.

  • Where are the meetings held?

    The meetings are held at restaurants in the greater Boston area.  We try to have one north of Boston, one south of Boston, one west of Boston and one special venue each year.

  • Who are the members?

    Our current membership includes community pharmacists, health-systems pharmacists, pharmacy educators, pharmaceutical wholesalers, pharmaceutical industry, board of pharmacy members and pharmacy advocates. BDA welcomes and encourages those who are working full-time and those who are about to retire or already retired to join and participate as a means to stay in touch with their colleagues.

  • How does a member become an officer?

    Members interested in serving as an officer or board member should express that interest to a current officer or board member to determine what positions might currently be open.

  • How many scholarships does the BDA award?

    For Academic Year 2024-2025, we plan to award four $1,000 scholarships.  One scholarship will be awarded to one student at each of the four Massachusetts colleges of pharmacy including Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Boston and Worcester, Northeastern University and Western New England University. 

  • Who can apply for the BDA scholarships?

    Students who are enrolled and in good standing at one of the accredited colleges of pharmacy located in Massachusetts are eligible. Preference is given to sons and daughters of BDA members. Interested applicants should reach out to the coordinator for academic scholarships at the respective college of pharmacy.

  • How do you apply for a BDA scholarship?

    Determination of awards will be conducted by each college of pharmacy including the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Boston and Worcester, Northeastern University and Western New England University. Contact the coordinator for academic scholarships at the respective college to apply.


    For Academic Year 2024-2025, a total of four scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each.
